1946 Aeronca 7AC Champ
The Port Townsend Aero Museum's reputation for restoration is becoming known far and wide in the world of classic and antique aircraft. Early this summer (2006) a gentleman from Reno Nevada brought us his beloved basket case Aeronca Champ. We have just recently completed a full restoration of this fine aircraft including the addition of a C85-12 with a full electrical system, including a moving map GPS from Garmin. With so many modifications the "new" aircraft is now certified as a 7DC-CONV, but it retains its original serial number.
Fitting instrument panel, transponder and GPS mounting trays.

The same panel several months later with full electrical system installed, including a Garmin GNC 250XL, Garmin 320A Transponder, and intercom.

With the engine hung, the wiring begins.

This photo shows the new baffles, exhaust, and ducting just prior to final assembly.
With the exception of the metal nose bow, the Port Townsend Aero Museum fabricated all new sheet metal for this Aeronca. The paint scheme was selected by the owner who resides in Reno Nevada.

Finished at last and ready to fly back home in Reno Nevada.
