Benny Howard Pylon Racer (replica)
Our Benny Howard pylon racer replica was donated to our museum by Mr. Mike Hoskins, of Quilcene, Washington. The unusual thing about our getting this aircraft is that it was delivered in small chunks and large plastic bags. This airplane had unfortunately been crashed years ago and never rebuilt, only stored on a shelf. Finally, after many years the owner decided he was never going to get back to the rebuilding process so he decided to give it a new home at the Port Townsend Aero Museum. The only stipulation in the donation was that the Howard would not be flown, only displayed for the public to see. Since we were looking to create a three airplane, pylon racing static display, we gladly agreed to this. Nine months and many volunteer hours later we were hanging the completed aircraft from our hangar ceiling, its temporary home until our new building is completed in the future.
